Pure Joy
When my daughter was five months old, I took this video of her. Every time she’d touch the camera, I’d make a noise and she’d laugh. It was the first time she really started to share her belly laughter. I could lose… I lost hours just making her laugh; it is still the best sound I’ve ever heard.
As I watch it, I am struck time and again at how the little things in life bring the greatest sense of joy. For her it was the sound I made when she touched something and for me it was the simply sound of her laugh. It just goes to show that the best things in this life have nothing to do with material things; it has to do with one another. Today, I invite you to spend time with someone you love….tell old stories, make one another laugh and wrap yourself in the wonder of the little things.
What brings you pure joy?
OMG!!!! LIttle baby dana!!!!!!!!! ADORABLE
member when she would bite your nose? i think i have that on tape somewhere hahaha!
cuteness!!!
Bridget – AHHHHH you just made me laugh out loud…I DO remember when she’d bite my nose…I want to see that tape though I bet it would make me cry laughing!! Every now and then she still bites my nose and then collapses into a serious fit of giggles
Very cute!!! It really did make me laugh and Caitlyn too! Who just said “let’s watch it again” Nothing is better than that first laugh or that first response to you!! Donna
Donna!! Hi there…I miss you…I LOVE that you AND Caitlyn watched the video and that she asked to see it again…that made my day! Dana asks to see it again and again too which is kind of hilarious…big hugs to you and the whole fam..xoxoxo
You know what brings me joy….your laughter. I thought Dana was adorable in this video, but what got me hysterical was your laughing…soooooo funny.
Also, James’ belly laughter. Yesterday we spent a good 30 minutes of him droppling his shoe on my lap, me yelping and him SCREAMING with belly laughter, which made me cry with laughter. All the toys in the room and this is what we do. It was SOOOO much fun!!
Claire – thank you…you made my night! I could not stop laughing…and I LOVE the story og you and James….I need to see it and hear it..love you guys
Oh my god!!! She is so cute!! I love this video – it brought me to tears. Belly laughing is amazing and the funny thing is you both have the same laugh in the video… she is laughing at you and you are laughing… so great.
My girls give me pure joy… when Ella tries to explain something to me as if I’m another 4 year od – that always cracks me up.
When my girls dance together it is so funny… to watch Kate admire every move Ella makes and then try to dance the same moves… I need to take that video.
Thanks for sharing your video… it made my night!
Smooches baby!!
Not sure what was funnier… Natasha’s laughter, or that ‘icy’ stare down she gave after she caught on to the game. If people don’t think children are sane individuals (even at 5 months), this video proves that they are.
Baby laughs are so wonderful – your daughter is adorable.
I loved hearing your laugh too!
Oh just precious!:) I have a 2.5 yr old boy…I really miss that time when he was a baby and would do those laughs. I wish I had taken video of those moments!:( I thought it sounded like such a cliche, but they really do grow up so fast…
She is very cute:)
Colleen – thank you tons and yes I think we are both laughing the same laugh..it’s crazy. I NEED to see the video of Kate and Ella dancing…have you taken that yet???
Rich – YOU just made me laugh out loud!! She totally gives that look at it’s priceless…she still does that when she catches on to something and it makes me cry laughing every time and then she can’t handle it and starts cracking up!
Kris- aww thanks! I’d love to hear your laughter as well!
Shreejana Hickman – hi there how are you?? So great to see you here…what’s your son’s name?? No I thought the exact same thing that it was so cliche but it’s true…it goes SOOO fast …can someone please slow this ride down?? LOL
