Happy Birthday to Doodle….

My daughter turned two recently and I’m still wondering exactly how that happened. This tiny little life is growing so rapidly and becoming the most amazing person. I am in awe of the way her smile lights up an entire room, the way she cares so deeply for others and how she already has a solid grasp of comedic timing.
Her love of music may begin with songs like, “Happy Birthday” as she loves to fill in just about every name when she is singing that tune and the “A, B, C” song despite the fact that each time she sings, “Now I know my A, B, C’s..” she sounds Southern but it doesn’t end there as I regularly receive requests like, “Mama, Alicia Keys” and more.
When my little Doodle isn’t singing, she’s extending an invitation to join in on some activity. She will grab your hand and ask you to dance or draw on paper or on the sidewalk with colorful chalk. I marvel at the way she thinks to invite people to partake in moments of joy.
My daughter is a firework celebration of life, a rainbow after a rainstorm, a jazz tune whose unexpected rhythms I adore, the most vibrant sunrise, a warm Spring breeze, a blazing fire on a chilly afternoon, chocolate kisses and ice cream hugs, a lighthouse beacon on stormy night, the first firefly light of the year, the very first daffodil of Spring, the center ring of a three-ring circus, a brand new rollercoaster ride, my heart.
This year, I wish for her to be surrounded by magical moments that set her imagination on fire and the love of those whose sole intention is add as much joy to her life as she adds to all of ours.
Happy Birthday, my beautiful girl!
Please join me in leaving Doodle some Happy Birthday wishes and/or words of wisdom!
