We’re Playin’ in the rain, Just Playin’ in the Rain

The last two days have been filled with rain. (It’s weird how that sentence makes me want to break into any number of rain songs – Rain, Rain Go Away…or I’m Singing in the Rain…can you think of any others?) So, the little Doodle and I have been playing indoors under umbrellas (yes, we pretend it’s raining inside and no, we clearly don’t believe it’s bad luck to open umbrellas in the house – knock on wood).

Yesterday, we made a Magic Paint Bag! (Thank you, First Art!) It’s like a home-made Etch-a-Sketch. You put paint inside a zip lock bag, lay it flat on a piece of paper and use a dull object to make designs on it. I don’t really know who was more excited about this find.
It got me thinking about rainy days. When I was younger I’d play all sorts of invented games with my brother. I loved it. Now, I enjoy curling up with a good book or a journal and a huge pile of colored pencils and listening to the rain.
What were or are some of your favorite rainy day activities??

Oooh, and what is that rain song by Annie Lennox?
What else to do on rainy days but read and write in journals, drink hot chocolate and watch good movies.
Although, if it is warm enough I do like to walk in the rain. And I like to sing while I’m walking in the rain. I’ve been caught, more than once, by pedestrians on rainy NYC streets singing at the top of my lungs in a downpour.
Ahh.
My favorite song to sing while walking in the rain.
Stormy Weather.
lolol I’m late again – but that’s nothing new! I’m in search of Natasha!! Rainy days in the desert are cherished – I think this started my whole creative process – I would find scraps of wood in the garage from something my dad had built and nail 2 or 3 pieces together and take them out to float them down the street when the rain just kept raining and the drains couldn’t keep up with it and the water would build up in the street in the middle where it makes a dip, and run after my little boats and always make sure I grabbed them before they went down the drain!!!!
It’s a cold rainy day today – a fire and some hot chocolate are in order – as soon as I finish up a little business!!
Big warm hugs to you – and oh hey – you can show up any time you want and we can roast marshmallows all night if you want!
